Tring Hockey Club News story

THC Board News March 2020

08 Mar 2020

Dear all,

The Tring Hockey Club Board met for one of its regular meetings last week with a very fruitful evening of discussion and planning.

High on the agenda was our response to the proposed changes at England Hockey.  Details of the England hockey proposal can be found here: http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/page.asp?section=2569&sectionTitle=Full+Proposal

In a nutshell the leagues are being restructured to remove some tiers of administration and bureaucracy and to make travel time shorter for many and make hockey more local.

Whilst there has been some push back by some of the hockey associations in our area we feel that the proposal by EH will be beneficial to the sport and in the long run should benefit this club as well.

The Presentation Awards Dinner is looming large and all are welcome to attend. Saturday 28th March, 8pm dinner, if you need to know the Menu choices please drop me a line or ask your captains for details or check your inbox for the invite.  As part of the evening we have the players player award. Who will you vote for?  This could be someone who shows unswerving commitment to the team or selflessly gets around to help everyone, you decide.

Please send your nomination to thcpresentationdinner@gmail.com with the title “Award Nomination”

We are looking to run a first aid course in conjunction with Tring Park Cricket Club.  The current proposal is to run it on Sunday 29th March between 9.30am and 12.30pm. The comprehensive training will focus upon sports injuries and will include:

Incident management, CPR, unconscious casualty management, head injuries and muscular-skeletal injuries. If you would like a place on this, please contact Nigel.

The board have spent a significant amount of time over the last few months discussing the way ahead for the future.  We are currently putting together a development plan.  We need information from you to help us move forward.

  1. What hockey qualifications do you hold (e.g. Coach level1, Umpire, Safe Guarding, etc...)
  2. Do you intend be part of THC again next year?
  3. Have you got a skill, talent or qualification that you could put to use helping the club?
  4. Would you like to volunteer for a role in the club?

As the season comes to a close we are sorry to say that there are still some subs outstanding.  We have some significant bills to pay and there really isn’t much financial wriggle room in a small club such as yours.  Please play fair and make your subscription payments so that we can finish the year on a high looking forward to Summer League.

Best Wishes,

The THC Board
